This week for reading we were learning when it is important to read everything carefully and when you can skim through whatever your reading. We decided that when your following instructions that you need to read all the steps carefully. I chose to follow instructions on how to make a slingshot.

This week for reading we were learning about hobbies.
Hobbies are something you enjoy, you don't necessarily have to be good at you hobby but you just have to enjoy and have fun doing it. For my create task this week I made a google drawing about 10 different hobbies that help your happiness and how they help your happiness.

This week for reading it was about mindset and perseverance. We read texts about big athletes and people who overcame big challenges in life but still were able to complete their goals and accomplish big things in life.
For my create task I made up two quotes about perseverance and not giving up. Here are my biggest take aways from the text as well.
This week for reading we have been looking at inner peace. I read an article about studies and inner peace, after that we made a peace sign with things that make is happy.
This week for writing we did persuasive arguments. For my topic I chose 'Social Media Impacts Our Happiness For The Worse'

This week for maths we were making maps or using them off google and coming uo woth questions and coordinates for our maps.

This week for reading we are choosing 3 articles from different genres.
I read:
Article 1: Science Straws invented that stops hiccups I think that this is an interesting but great invention because hiccups can be very annoying and this is a great solution.
Article 2: Sports Swimming NZ to send 7 swimmers to the Tokyo Olympics I think its really exciting that we are having these swimmers represent our country in swimming events.
Article 3: World China Sends 3 Astronauts Into Space I found this really cool and interesting to read. I think this is a cool idea and it will give us a lot of information we may not already know about space.
This weeks writing task was to make a star and in the middle write why we think Matariki should or shouldn't be a public holiday. On the outside of the star we had to write text features and events from this article.
The goal was: Identify some text events and features, and discuss what they make the reader think about.
Bus Day Out!
This week for maths we had to make a bus route with three stops. Me and Caoimhe went from our houses, to Riccarton Mall, to the beach, and then back to our houses.

The create task this week was to read a book and make a character reading web about the charaters in the book. I read 'Diary Of An AFL Legend'
This weeks reading goal was "Think while reading, pick up new information, and come up with new ideas and new thinking" the create task was to create a ven diagram about The Statue of Liberty and The Peacock Fountain.
This week for writing we were writing poems about Ngai Tahu and something about Christchurch, this was a fun task because I don't usually like writing poems.
For reading we had a two week task to make something we think Christchurch needs.
I made a 3D screen room and If you touch a certain image it would tell you about it.

This weeks writing went on over 2 weeks, we had to write an article for the Kaupeka newspaper. I=The article had to relate to our turangawaewae, I wrote about the haka.
This week for maths we were learning about coordinates.
We had to look at the distance from Kaiapoi Pa and Ōnawe Pa, and the distance between our school and Christchurch city centre.
A coordinate is a group of numbers used to show where a place or object is.
