How can you be a good maths buddy?

 How can you be a good maths buddy?

To be a good maths buddy I think you need to be able to do the following.

You need to stay with them and help them out, you need to put in an equal amount work, if you don't know how to do the equations you can learn and still help. When you're sharing your work you need to contribute to sharing and take turns talking and writing. You need to be able to communicate with them, you have to share your work with them and make sure you both have the same answers.

Overall you need to be, kind, collaborative and patient.

For reading this week we read a book about robots taking over humans.

Welcome to term 3.

For maths this week instead of workshops we did collaborative problem solving.
The problem was about the backfield and a new bike track, and all about area and perimeter.

Hansel and Gretel Writing 1st Week of Term 3

For writing this week it was based on Hansel and Gretel.
We came up with sentences describing different hings from Hansel and Gretel.

My goal for writing this week was to use language features specific to the purpose of the text.

Our create task was to write a narrative using the organiser/planner I used a story I had written from a while ago.

Decimals and Whole Numbers

My goal this week was to use a broad range of strategies to solve multiplication and division problems with whole numbers and decimals.


I did the strategy doubling and halving for the division, and for the multiplication I did place value.

My goal this week was summarising,

Identify some text events and features, and discuss what they make the reader think about.

Identify at least one important idea and justify why it is important. 

Identify several ideas, discuss the author's stance or purpose, and understand relationships in the text.

For the create task we had to fill in a slide about the book.

For writing we had to plan out a narrative I did mine story about a group of girls and them in woods.

Reading Challenge (T2 Wk8)

For reading this week we had to complete as many reading challenges from a selection as we could I completed 3 challenges.

The first one was an A-Z word challenge
I did this with the book "Wheres Grandma?"

The second was a wanted poster
I read the book "The Great Paper Caper" and did a wanted poster for the bear who was stealing the wood.


For the third challenge I did a new book cover for the book "!"

Narrative Writing (T2 Wk8)

For writing this week we had to write a narrative about a topic of pour choice. My story was about a girl who goes to mall and lots of things go wrong.

Maths Strategies (T2 Wk8)

This week we were doing maths using many different strategies. For the create task we had to create a DLO showing  at least two different strategies we used.

Reversing Division and Multiplication

Goal- Use a broad range of strategies to solve multiplication and division problems with whole numbers

We had to learn the strategy and then do a screencastify to teach others how to do the strategy.

Harry Potters First time seeing Hogwarts Drawing

For reading this week we had to read a part of Harry Potter I did their first time seeing Hogwarts, without seeing a picture of the scene we had to draw what we thought the castle and scene looked like from what we had read.

Tree Diagrams

This week for maths we were looking at tree diagrams. We could either draw it by hand on paper or on our chromebooks, we then had to put the diagrams on a slide along with statements.

Maths Term 2 Week 3

For maths in week three we were doing graphs to show data about our topic of choice, and we made up our own data. I chose to do Apple phones and android phone I put the data in the categories of girls and boys. We then had to make about what we could see in the data.

Maths For The First Week Of Term 2

For the first eek of term 2 we got to choose from 3 different strategies I chose to do rounding and compensating (r & c).
we had to learn how to use the strategy and then make a screencastify (voice over) on how to use and do the strategy.

Writing Term 2 Week 3

For the third week of term two I was doing complex sentences for writing. I chose to do a movie and write complex sentences about each character, I chose the Spongebob movie.
If you wondering what a complex sentences is it is a sentence that has one independent clause and one dependent clause in it. In more basic language it is a sentence that has one sentence that can make sense by itself and one part that has something that doesn't make sense by it self.

Reading Term 2 Week 2

For reading this week it was all about finding fake news and information and how to identify whether its fake or not.
We did this challenge online where we were a BBC news reporter, we had to make sure that we did everything fast but accurate and that everything was real.

Afterwards we read 1 - 2 books about fake news and what news reporters do, we also filled out a reading response.






We also made info graphics about ways to know if news is fake and what do look for if you think it might be fake.

Writing Week 1 Of Term 2

Welcome to another writing blog post,
This week wad the first week of Term 2. We were doing work online at home it has been alright so far.
For writing we had to to present three things to remember when your giving feedback to someone, or replying to someones feedback that they might have left on your work.

Writing Term 2 Week2

This week in writing it was all about editing and rewriting we got told thees two acronyms CUPS and ARMS. Our create task was to do something on our chrome books to shoe what CUPS and ARMS meant, I did an acrostic poem.
